The vicious circle of poverty
Poor human beings have the same creative potential as all other human beings.
By their living conditions, which are shaped by the daily fight for surviving,
they are imprisoned in a vicious circle.
They can - in the true sense of the word
- not develop themselves.
The spiral of development
Muhammad Yunus and the Grameen Bank in Bangladesh have proved it: If poor human beings get a chance, then they take it. With a microcredit, an initial support and a stimulation in the right direction irreversible processes in the lives of human beings are set on. They are enabled to break through the vicious circle of poverty.

- What is Social Business?
Muhammad Yunus and the Grameen Bank from Bangladesh received the Nobel Price for Peace in 2006 because of a model to fight against poverty, which worked millions of times: The assignment of smallest credits to the poorest people in order to enable them to undertake own steps to leave the poverty behind.
Muhammad Yunus is the founder of the Social Business idea to solve social and/or ecological problems economically.
In the graphic on the right, the position of social business can be seen in direct comparison to non-profit and for-profit companies or organizations.
The executive commitee of the cooperative, Jérôme Dodji Fiayiwo from Togo and Heike Eggers from Germany, completed in 2009 a training with the Grameen Bank and are members of the Grameen Global Network. They created an African Social Business, the Kopeme Group in Togo, which offers a socio-economic program for human beings living in extreme poverty to eliminate the poverty.
The cooperative African Social Business Pure e.G., registered in Germany, is a Social Business with the goal of making Africa a better place to live.

The African Social Business Pure e.G. enables investors, for whom interest yields are not crucial,
to invest into selected Social Business ideas in Africa.
The direct investment into the Social Business of the Kopeme Group is the first investment of the African Social Business Pure e.G.. The Kopeme Group searches investments of 1 Million Euro for 2012 to be able to disburs 8.500 microcredits to families in Togo, who are living in extreme poverty, to bring light to them (light for all) and to enable them to buy an energy-saving-stove as well as bicycles by weekly instalments.
Version 1
– Social Business Pure
(according to the definition of Muhammad Yunus)
The investor acquires cooperative portions starting from 200 Euro.
The interest remains in Africa and will be – for example – reinvested into the Social Business “jeder Baum zählt / each tree counts” and the solar fund “Lumière pour tous - light for all” of the Kopeme Group. A social investor obtains thus 100% social net yield with remaining capital.
With the dynamics in Africa the originally used capital doubles itself in 5 years, so that the seed and/or start capital can be paid back after 5 years completely to the investor.
Version 2
– Social Business Plus
(Savings deposit with interest yield of 5% per annum.)
This model plans that the investor obtains an interest yield of 5 % per annum with a running time of 5 years apart from the social net yield.
It is suitable for investors who have to obtain an interest yield to remain operable (e.g. foundations, insurance, pension funds).
